What is GDPR?

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the acronym for Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data. It repeals Directive 95/46/EC and is applicable since 25 May 2018 in all EU Member States.

The GDPR Regulation is directly applicable in Slovakia, replacing the previously valid and effective Act No. 122/2013 Coll. on the protection of personal data and on the amendment of certain laws and establishes obligations for natural or legal persons, public authorities, agencies or other entities, which alone or together with others determine the purposes and means of processing personal data.
